Young Heritage Advocates to Gather in Mt. Makiling

The Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) in Mt. Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna will be the home of the 1st National Youth Forum on Heritage (1NYFH) from 11-14 November 2015. Dr. Vim Nadera, PHSA Director, will join the NYFH Secretariat and National Organizing Committee in the launching of the 1NYFH in the Juan D. Nepomuceno Center for Kapampangan Studies, Holy Angel University, Angeles City.

PHSA is a one-of-a-kind secondary school in the country specializing in Creative Writing, Dance, Music, Ballet, Visual Arts, and Theatre Arts. Its hosting of the NYFH is aligned with its objetive of "[awakening] social awareness and human compassion to the discovery, conservation, and promotion of the Filipino artistic and cultural traditions."

The NYFH Secretariat approved the logo of the 1NYFH featuring the National Arts Center, the famous landmark in PHSA.

The NYFH is the first biggest gathering of young heritage advocates and cultural workers in the country to celebrate the wonders of the Filipino nation, to affirm their commitments to nation-building, and be inspired by each other and by the invited established cultural workers, scholars, and vanguards. The delegates is expected to actively voice out their ideas and concerns to the stakeholders of heritage and the cultural agencies of the government, and determine contribute in the forum’s proceedings.

The NYFH is a proud youth program by the youth, of the youth, and for the youth. Its steering group is composed of young men and women who selflessly consecrated their ideas, time, energy, and skills for its success for four years: The young leaders of The Outstanding Students of the Philippines Region 3 Alumni Community of Heroes, Inc., Project Saysay, and Proyekto PH. It is supported by the RFM Foundation, Inc., the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and the Philippine High School for the Arts.
