The First National Youth Forum on Heritage (1NYFH) was launched yesterday at the Juan D. Nepomuceno Center for Kapampangan Studies, Holy Angel University, Angeles City. "After four years of labor, we have finally arrived at this moment," remarked by Ian Alfonso, the NYFH Chairman. It was in 2011 when the idea of NYFH was first conceived in Tarlac, Tarlac by the heritage-inclined alumni of The Outstanding Students of the Philippines Region 3 Alumni Community of Heroes (TOSP R3ACH). As an acknowledgment, the NYFH Secretariat decided to launch the 1NYFH in Central Luzon.

Center for Kapampangan Studies was chosen to be the venue in recognition of its efforts in conserving and promoting of what they see "alarming" vanishing of Kapampangan culture, paticularly the declining number of Kapampangan language's speakers. The said language problem in Pampanga was shared by Prof. Adrian Lee Magcalas, president of the Katipunan da reng Talasaliksik at Talaturung Kapampangan, in his opening message.

Among the attendees in the launching were Prof. Robby Tantingco, Vice-President for External Affairs & Corporate Communications and concurrently the Center for Kapampangan Studies Director; Mrs. Herminia Pamintuan, wife of Angeles City Mayor Ed Pamintuan; Mrs. Alegria Joy Lansang-Cruz, Museo ning Angeles Executive Director; Mr. Roland Quiambao, parul sampernandu artisan; and Dr. Vim Nadera, Director IV of the Philippine High School for the Arts and the Commissioner of the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines.

Nadera was the Guest of Honor of the event.

In his message, Nadera reconnected himself to Pampanga through his Kapampangan wife whose roots are from Guagua, Pampanga. Nadera emphasized the good things the Kapampangan people have shared to the corpus of the national heritage. Among these are the sisig (grilled pork mask), the word kabalen (fellow Kapampangan), parul sampernandu (lantern making tradition in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga), and the national heroes like Luis Taruc and Ninoy Aquino. "Huwag ninyo sanang isiping inaagaw sa inyo ang inyong sisig, parol, at iba pa, dahil patunay lamang ito na may maiaambag kayo sa corpus ng ating pamanang bayan," Nadera told the guests, who were mostly young Kapampangans. ("Don't think that your sisig, parol, and others are being taken out from you, because it only means you have contributions to the body of our national heritage.")

("This is your time, and you are the ones to determine the destiny of what you have inherited, that have survived different times and generations, only to reach [your time] and to give you soul [identity] of who you are in this world.")

The 1NYFH launching was highlighted by the unveiling of the official logo of the 1NYFH, the opening of the application as delegates, and the overview of the NYFH through website www.nyfhph.com.

The Secretariat handed down to Mrs. Pamintuan a certificate of appreciation to the Angele City being the host city of the launching, as well as to the Holy Angel University as the host institution.

The launching was followed by a lecture-demonstration on the making of parul sampernandu in the Administration Building of the university.
